Creating Posts

Posts are the heart of your blog. They're time-stamped entries that appear in reverse chronological order (newest first).

Your First Post

  1. Click Posts in the sidebar
  2. Click the New Post button
  3. Fill in the post details:

Required fields:

  • Title: The headline of your post
  • Content: The main body of your post

Optional fields:

  • Summary: A brief excerpt (shown on post cards and in search results)
  • Category: Organize this post under a topic
  • Tags: Keywords related to your post
  • Hero Image: A featured image for your post
  • SEO Settings: Custom meta title and description
  1. Choose a Status:

    • Draft: Save without publishing (only you can see it)
    • Published: Make it live on your site
  2. Click Create Post

Using the Rich Text Editor

The content editor gives you full control over your post's formatting.

Text Formatting

  • Bold: Select text and click B or press Ctrl+B
  • Italic: Select text and click I or press Ctrl+I
  • Underline: Select text and click U or press Ctrl+U
  • Strikethrough: Cross out text

Headings

Use headings to structure your content:

  • H1: Main heading (usually reserved for the title)
  • H2: Section headings
  • H3: Subsection headings
  • H4-H6: Smaller headings

Lists

  • Bullet lists: For unordered items
  • Numbered lists: For sequential steps or rankings

Other Formatting

  • Block quote: Highlight a quote or important text
  • Code block: For technical content or code snippets
  • Links: Highlight text and click the link icon to add a URL

Adding Images to Posts

Images make your posts more engaging.

Method 1: From the Toolbar

  1. Place your cursor where you want the image
  2. Click the Image icon in the editor toolbar
  3. The Media Library opens
  4. Select an existing image or upload a new one
  5. Click the image to insert it

Method 2: Drag and Drop

  1. Find an image on your computer
  2. Drag it directly into the editor
  3. The image uploads and appears in your post

Setting a Hero Image

A hero image is the main featured image for your post. It appears at the top of the post and on post cards throughout your site.

  1. In the post editor, find the Hero Image section on the right
  2. Click Upload to add a new image, or Choose from Media to select an existing one
  3. The image preview appears
  4. Click Save or Update Post

To remove a hero image: Click the Remove button below the image preview.

Recommended hero image specs:

  • Size: 1200x630 pixels (16:9 ratio works best)
  • Format: JPG or PNG
  • Keep file size under 500KB for fast loading

Want a post to appear prominently on your homepage? Use the Hero Carousel feature.

  1. In the post editor, find the Hero Position dropdown
  2. Select a position (Hero 1 through Hero 5)
  3. Save your post

Hero positions:

  • Hero 1: First/main position in the carousel
  • Hero 2-5: Additional carousel slides
  • Not featured: Post won't appear in the carousel

Only posts with a hero image and "Published" status will appear in the carousel.

SEO Settings for Posts

Help search engines understand your post with custom SEO settings.

In the SEO section:

Meta Title

  • The title that appears in search results
  • If left empty, your post title is used
  • Keep it under 60 characters

Meta Description

  • The description shown in search results
  • If left empty, your post summary is used
  • Keep it under 160 characters

Saving as Draft vs. Publishing

Draft

  • Only you can see the post
  • Great for works in progress
  • Access via the dashboard at any time

Published

  • Visible to everyone on your site
  • Appears in post listings and feeds
  • Can be changed back to draft anytime

Tip: You can preview a published post by clicking the Preview button in the editor.

Editing Posts

  1. Go to Posts in the sidebar
  2. Find the post you want to edit
  3. Click the post title or the Edit link
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Update Post

Deleting Posts

  1. Open the post in the editor
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Click the red Delete Post button
  4. Confirm the deletion

Warning: Deleted posts cannot be recovered!
